You completely missed the point of the Discovery i am afraid, while it matches the Volvo and Audi for SUV luxury etc, it leaves them in the dust from an offroad capability perspective, the Discovery can go places offroad that the Volvo and Audi could not even consider going....

you fail to mention that the discovery has a full size spare wheel while the Volvo and Audi do not. Thats a big thing. You also do not mention that the discovery has low range and real offroad capabilities while the Audi and Volvo do not so you are really not comparing apples with apples at all. Compare the disco to toyota prado and jeep grand cherokee and the audi and volvo to bmw x5. there is no real content here other than what has already been seen and heard by many others.

There is an additional large storage space once you push the front seat cupholders forward AND if you push the PUSH button at the stereo, and your car isn't equipped with the optional CD player, there's a storage behind the screen once it flips down.

Of all the Land Rovers this is the one I like the most. To me it looks the most interesting but I would have loved to see a more pronounced stepped roofline as I feel that feature really signifies the Discovery and also makes it stand out from the other raft of 'look-the-same' 4x4s.

“Rough edges’ in the interior. Q7 and XC90 “beat it in town” (the LR’s natural habitat). I concur having driven all three. The XC90 felt better for me. Only downside is one size of engine (2.0lt 4 cylinder). The XC90 also has more usable luggage space when all 7 seats are used.

The first time I saw this car I followed it round a large roundabout. The car leaned a lot and it looked as though the number plate was sliding off! The bronze colour is horrible.

Am I a bit dim (probably) but I am not sure there is an issue logically. If you want a vehicle to go off road, then this vehicle doesn't have much competition. If you don't want or need to, then other vehicles are better. If you don't want to go off road why get an SUV at all? Estates, hot hatches, people carriers etc would be better and cheaper. I drive a Golf GTI and a Boxer van. If I wanted an SUV, I would buy a chunky 4 year old Discovery MK 4 and do serious lugging.
